TESTY DEVILS SCORE BIG

The testy Devils threw Kevin Beirich in the back end of the doubleheader.  Rumors were swirling the dugout that Coach Stan had a hot date and did not want to witness a lengthy ordeal.  Beirich wasted no time and struck out the side in the first.

In the bottom of the first, Brett Suchy was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on Mike Grigola’s double to the gap giving the Devil’s a 1-0  lead.  For you daytime drama junkies, the benches were not warned after Suchy’s HBP despite dugout banters referring to ice supplies in respective dugouts.  The dugouts cooled but not before the banter escalated into something off a bad Jerry Springer episode.

In the second, Bill Rush led off with a single, Trey Ward doubled scoring Rush, Taylor Reznicek reached on an error, Drew Wills doubled, Eric Wroble and Suchy both singled, Frank Defino singled, the scorekeeper got writers cramp, the score board resembled a Pink Floyd laser show and before you know it, the Devil’s posted seven runs.

In the top of the third frame, the Blazers got their first hit of three on the day.  With two outs the Blazers got a double from the clean-up hitter yet was left stranded after Beirch K’d his sixth hitter of the day.

The Devil’s showing no mercy came back with four more.  Rez was plunked (we got ice), Wills singled, Wroble singled, Suchy doubled and Defino singled.

With the score 12 to 2 in the top of the fourth, the Blazers failed to score as Beirich continued to paint the corners like Picasso.

Coach Stan’s bride was anxiously waiting for her date and the Devil Sophs were not going to leave her pacing.  In the bottom of the fourth, Ward singled and Wills followed with a walk.  That brought Wroble to the plate.  With a 1-0 count, Wroble hit a towering homer to left center to cap the scoring on the nightcap, 15-2.

In case you are wondering, Coach Stan made it on time and the Momma’s Boys delivered.
