Matt Murray pitched 5 1/3 strong innings to lead the Freshman B team to a 5-2 victory over L.T. Matt struck out three while giving up one unearned run. Mike Imke (2-4, 2 runs, 2 RBI) led the scoring attack with a two run triple in the 5th inning.
With Hinsdale trailing 1-0 Andrew Smiles (2-3, 1 run) led off the fifth inning with a line drive single to right field. Steve McKinley walked and Imke followed with a long drive over the centerfielder to score two runs. Matt Vanek (1-3. 1 run, BB) followed with a ground out to score Imke.
Hinsdale added two runs in the 7th inning on a single by Imke, walks to Vanek and Tim Anderson and a sharp fielder's choice groundout by Nick Enright, scoring two runs. The inning ended on an unusual play when Hinsdale's pitch runner was forced at second base and called out a second time when he continued to run to third.
Ryan Murphy pitched 1 2/3 innings (2 K's) of relief to record the save.
