Zach Leathers pitched a complete game shut out as Hinsdale Central defeated LT 2-0 in the first game of a double-header. Leathers gave up only three hits and walked one while striking out five. Offensively, the Red Devils made the most of their two hits. Catcher Grant Slesser led off the top of the 5th inning with a walk. Pinch runner Laing stole second and advanced to third on a Nick Baldwin groundout. Laing scored what proved to be the winning run on a two out single by second baseman Brock Piche.
The Red Devils tacked on an insurance run in the 6th inning as shortstop Billy Auriemma led off the inning with a walk and eventually scored on a single by left fielder Jared White.
Leathers wriggled out of a two out jam in the bottom of the 7th stranding runners on 2nd and 3rd.
