Leading 5-2 going into the fourth inning with their ace, Zach Leathers, on the mound, things were looking up for the freshman Red Devils. But a relentless York offensive attack could not be stopped as the Dukes crushed Central 17-8 in the first game of their doubleheader. York pounded out 17 hits and were aided by 11 walks and three hit batters by Red Devils pitching (Leathers, Will Edwards, Harrison Dahl and Aaron Gay). Gay gave up one run over the last two innings and was the most effective of the four Hinsdale pitchers.
Offensively, the Red Devils were led by infielder Nick Baldwin (3 for 4, double and 2 RBI). Centerfielder Mike Imke, designated hitter Brock Piche, and catcher Grant Slesser also collected two hits each while Leathers homered.
