DOMINATES AS FRESHMAN WIN 7 IN A ROW
MORSE HOMERS AGAIN
In a Jordan-like zone, Nick Kurash blind-sided
the Trojans by STRIKING OUT 17 and only walking 1 in a ONE HIT, NO RUN
spectacular pitching performance. Nick was heard to say his arm felt like
a Howitzer (a cannon in WWII), the ball was exploding into catcher Colin
Cimala’s glove all game.
Offensively the action started right away in the first inning. Andrew
Nicholas (2-4) hit a line drive to left for a single, but was forced out
on a hit to the second baseman by Hugh Harris, who then got picked off
at first base. Alex Belluschi hit a sharp single to left field and stole
second. Brett Morse walked and Colin Cimala singled to right, and on a
very close play at the plate the right fielder threw out Belluschi going
home.
In the 6th inning, Cimala got a single and advanced to second on a wild
pitch and scored on Mark Noth’s shot over the center fielder for
a double. Next batter, Drew Bailey came up and ripped a single to center,
scoring Noth.
In the 7th with 2 outs, Morse came up and pummeled the second pitch 350
ft over the center field fence. Andrew Hubbarth also contributed with
a bunt single. The Devils held the score with a 3-0 victory.
