FOUNTAS
TAKES CONTROL
NICHOLAS AND MORSE HOMER IN THE FIFTH INNING
Anthony Fountas continued his dominance on the mound by striking out 9
and allowing only 4 hits and 1 run against Downers North. Fountas was
in total command of his location combing the change of speed and curve,
which kept the Trojan batters off balance the entire game.
Offensively the Red Devils’ bats were silent until the 5th inning
when the onslaught began. Dan Diorio started with a walk; Andrew Nicholas
stepped up and took the second pitch “yard,” a line drive
shot over the right field fence. Hugh Harris walked and was forced out
at 2nd on Alex Belluschi’s hard shot to short. Alex was on 1st when
Brett Morse came up and went “yard” on the 3rd pitch over
the right center fence. The Devils never looked back after the fifth inning.
